Introduction

Phonics 1b thoroughly covers one-sound consonants, multi-sound consonants, sight words, sounds in the middle of words, and spelling.

Phonics 1b is now available with five lessons:

Master Course and Lessons

Phonics 1b is designed similar to a text book, you can start at the beginning and read to the end, or you can go to a chapter/leeson you want. Phonics 1b is the master course and contains all of the lessons of the course. However, a teacher can assign individual lessons to the students, to work on the specific skills or subjects.

Each lesson is similar a chapter of a book, and is much shorter than the large master course. The lessons can be usually be completed in one setting. Students can earn a "Gold Star Certivicate of Achiement" in each lesson and in the master course. The course/lesson icon will show a gold star when a student completes a lesson or course, indicating completion.

Master Course Features

  • A Pretest assessment to measure the student's prior knowlege of the subjects. A posttest to measure the effectiveness of the course/lessons. Pretests and Posttests are also available in each lesson.

    • Recognize that spoken words are represented in written language by specific sequence of letters.
    • Understand that words are separated by spaces in print.
    • Recognize and name all upper- and lowercase letters of the alphabet.
    • Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words and spoken single-syllable words.
    • Count, pronounce, blend and segment syllables in spoken words.
    • Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary or many of the most frequent sound for each consonant.
    • Segment spoken single-syllable words into their complete sequence of individual sounds (phonemes).
